He’s Back– Shamrocks welcome Steve Priolo back to the lineup

Victoria, BC– Just six weeks into the WLA season, the Victoria Shamrocks are excited to have defensive star Steve Priolo rejoin the lineup.

The 6”5 defender from St. Catharines, ON is being greeted with open arms as Priolo enters his fifth season with the Shamrocks. The 33-year-old has a wealth of experience and knowledge at all levels of the box game that will immediately make an impact with our 6-1 season record squad.

“Steve is widely recognized as an all-world player and is a huge part of our identity as a team. We couldn’t be happier to have him back in the mix again,” said general manager Chris Welch.

Priolo has assisted the Shamrocks in getting to two Mann Cup Championships, including their ninth Mann Cup title in 2015. Since then, Priolo has continued his success at the highest level in the National Lacrosse League.

Priolo has spent his NLL career with the Buffalo Bandits since being drafted in 2009 and has quickly made his mark as their team captain for the 2021-22 season, leading them to another NLL Championship run.

In his many seasons with the Bandits, Priolo has totalled 223 caused turnovers, 1,127 loose balls, and 187 points. A veteran leader, and highly skilled defender, Priolo will help bulk up this Shamrocks defence in no time at all.

Fans will recognize Priolo for his big hits, communication on the floor, and his occasional fast-break goal that electrifies the crowd. The Shamrocks are excited to bring back a fan-favourite.

“Victoria has always felt like home. Not only the lacrosse but the lifestyle as well. After two years away, I am jumping at the opportunity to get back to the island,” Priolo said.
