With Top Seed Insight, Shamrocks Head to Coquitlam
After missing their first opportunity to clinch the number one overall seed in the WLA playoffs on Thursday, the Victoria Shamrocks will head to Coquitlam tonight looking to seal the deal.
With a victory, the Shamrocks would take on the Nanaimo Timbermen. A loss would see the Shamrocks finish 2nd, and take on the Salmonbellies.
After winning just 1 of their first 4 games, few thought the Shamrocks would get themselves in this position. However, a stretch that has seen them go 10-2-0, including a 7 game winning streak has vaulted the Shamrocks back into the hunt for 1st overall.
Tyler Pace had 4 goals on Thursday and now has 12 points in the 4 games he's played since joining the Shamrocks at the WLA trade deadline from the Langley Thunder.
Coming into tonight, the Adanacs sit 7th in the WLA with an overall record of 3-14-0. On paper, this looks like a mismatch, however, both the Adanacs and Thunder have relished the opportunity to play spoiler down the stretch and there is little doubt that Coquitlam would love to do so tonight to finish their season on a high note. The Adanacs are also looking to avoid a winless season on their home floor as they enter action tonight 0-8-0 at the Poirier Sports Complex.
Stay tuned after tonight's contest as the Shamrocks will officially announce the details for their opening-round playoff series on their Road to the Mann Cup presented by Telus.
