Victoria Shamrocks ready for Wednesdays WLA Draft

Written by Beth Atkinson

Victoria – The 2018 Western Lacrosse Association Draft of graduating Junior Lacrosse players will be held Wednesday February 7th at 7pm.

The Victoria Shamrocks have overall picks of 4, 18, 25, 39, 46, and 53 in the 8 round draft.

The draft will be available online to watch or follow along at our various social media feeds from victoriashamrocks.com.

General Manager Chris Welch is heading into his 11th WLA draft. He is hopeful as “Each year the WLA Draft offers us the chance to add new talent to our group and this year is no different. With the 4th overall selection we will select a player who will step into our core immediately and for many years to come. Replenishing our core is key to our long-term success.” Although the early rounds are important, the later rounds should not be discounted, Welch says that “as we've seen many times in the past that not all great players are taken in the 1st the round. Draft night is always interesting and exciting and I'm looking forward to it.”

With the help of new talent, the Shamrocks will be fighting to bring home the Mann Cup for the 10th time.
