Victoria – The Shamrocks return home to The Q Centre on Sunday, where they have beat Burnaby in three of four tilts this season including both home games in the playoffs, with the opportunity to punch their ticket to the Western Lacrosse Association Final.
Last game the trio of Casey Jackson, Joe Resetarits, and Corey Small combined for nine points, and the three now sit in spots two through four of the WLA Playoff scoring lead. Burnaby’s Robert Church leads with twenty-seven points, Small is second with twenty four, and both Jackson and Resetarits have seventeen, tied for third most.
Aaron Bold has been a brick wall in the series, facing the most shots to this point in the playoffs at 180, and has allowed forty-one goals, good for an 81% save average. That number is in the top 3 with Maple Ridge’s and New Westminster.
While the Shamrocks have the second fewest shots among playoff teams, they have been making the most of them. Victoria is scoring on twenty percent of their shots, the highest in the WLA. Look for the always loud crowd in Victoria to reward the Shamrocks when the ball hits the back of the twine to bring on the red light.
Burnaby Lakers Scouting Report
Robert Church has a tight grasp on the WLA Playoffs goal category, with fifteen in five games, four more than any other player. He is the only Laker in the top five in scoring, but three more Lakers are in the top ten. Eli McLauglin, Josh Byrne and Cam Milligan sit in spots seven to nine with thirteen points for McLaughlin and Byrne while Milligan has twelve. The Lakers like to run in transition, and have goaltender Eric Penney throw stretch passes to forwards on the run or defenders flying the zone. Burnaby has the most power play goals in the playoffs with eight on twenty-four chances.
Tickets are available for the game at HERE, calling 250-478-7625 or at the arena at noon on game day.
