After a thrilling 12-10 win at The Q Centre on Wednesday in front of a raucous crowd, the Victoria Shamrocks travel the Strait of Georgia looking to advance to the next round on the quest for the Mann Cup.
Victoria averaged 9.56 goals per game during the regular season and was perfect in regulation when reaching that average with a record of 9-0-1. In the postseason, the Shamrocks have averaged 8.5 goals per game, but once again are perfect when they top that number. In game’s one and two it took nine goals to win, 9-8 and 9-6 and twelve in the fourth game.
The Shamrocks penalty kill has improved from the regular season, where they finished sixth at just over sixty-three percent. Against Burnaby, Victoria has raised that percentage to an even seventy, second among playoff teams. On top of that, the ‘Rocks have two shorthanded goals in the playoffs, compared to zero for the Lakers.
Joe Resetarits is coming off his best game as a Shamrock, recording a hat trick and adding five assists for an eight point night. He sits fourth with Casey Jackson in playoff scoring with fourteen points. Corey Small is second with twenty-one, Burnaby’s Robert Church leads all with twenty-two.
