May 18th

Victoria, BC – The Victoria Shamrocks are pleased to announce they have acquired Ryan Fournier from the Cobourg Kodiaks of the Ontario Major Series Lacrosse league for the 2018 Western Lacrosse Association season.

Fournier, a 24-year old native of Ottawa, Ontario, is a dynamic transition player with the skill to play at either end of the floor. The 5’9” 190-pounder also takes face-offs.

He won a Minto Cup in 2015 with the Six Nations Arrows. In 2017, he helped the Kahnawake Mohawks of the Quebec Senior B Lacrosse League make it the President’s Cup tournament where he had six points in five games.

He was drafted 12th overall in the 2017 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft by the Vancouver Stealth. He had 5 points in 5 games for the Stealth before being picked up by the Buffalo Bandits with whom he has played one game.

“Ryan is an emerging talent who has been on a lot of people’s radar,” said Shamrocks General Manager Chris Welch. “He’s a very versatile player who has been a team captain and he adds speed to our transition game, which is such a critical component for us.”

Fournier is excited about the opportunity to play with the Shamrocks. “I’ve always wanted to be a part of this organization,” he said. “The history and tradition within the club is so amazing to me.  I’m just thankful I get to be a part of it and help continue its winning traditions.”
