Victoria Shamrocks acquire goaltender Adam Shute

Victoria, BC – The Victoria Shamrocks are excited to announce that they have acquired goaltender Adam Shute from the Coquitlam Adanacs for a 2nd round draft pick in 2017.  The 6’4”, 200lbs netminder hails from Calgary, where he played his minor and junior A lacrosse. With the Adanacs, Shute appeared in 48 WLA games across four seasons of action. In 2015, he finished second in the league in save percentage at 82.3%.

With the acquisition of Shute, the Shamrocks have released veteran goaltender Matt Roik.   We are very excited to be acquiring a goaltender of Shute’s caliber, but also sorry to see Roik go. We thank Roiker for all he has done for us.

Shamrocks general manager Chris Welch is excited about the addition of Shute and what he will bring to the floor. “This move was made in the best interest of the Shamrocks,” said Welch. “It was a chance for us to get younger in a key position where there isn’t a big market.  We think Adam will work well in tandem with Cody Hagedorn.”

The Shamrocks are on a two-game winning streak after defeating Langley and Maple Ridge. They currently sit in second place with a 5-2 record.  The next game is in Burnaby on June 21, as the Shamrocks take on the Lakers at 7:00pm.
