Trade Alert!

The Victoria Shamrocks of the Western Lacrosse Association are pleased to announce that we have acquired goaltender Peter Dubenski from the Nanaimo Timbermen in exchange for a 3rd round pick in the 2020 WLA Draft.

Dubenski, a 25-year-old native of Nanaimo, last played in the WLA in the 2017 season when he won three games with the Timbermen. In 2016 at the age of 23 he was named the Timbermen’s most valuable player. He has also spent time with the Saskatchewan Rush and San Diego Seals organizations in the National Lacrosse League. He won a provincial championship last year with Nanaimo Senior B Timbermen and helped them on their run to the President’s Cup that fell just short.

“This trade shores up a key position for us,” said Shamrocks general manager Chris Welch. “With Aaron Bold unable to make a full commitment for this season it gives us some insurance and it gives Peter an opportunity to regain his Senior A career. We think he’s is a fine young netminder who hasn’t hit his prime yet and that the promise he showed as a standout in Junior A will soon be fulfilled, it just takes goalies a bit longer sometimes. The fact that he’s an island player doesn’t hurt either.”
