Shamrocks wrap up regular season in Coquitlam

Victoria Shamrocks (13-4) @ Coquitlam Adanacs (7-10) preview

Saturday, August 6th, 7pm @ Coquitlam Sports centre

By Janice Huckin - If it looks like déjà vu your mind is not deceiving you as the Shamrocks travel to Coquitlam for the second consecutive Saturday to take on the Adanacs.  It is the final regular season game for both teams.

While Victoria has clinched first place in the standings with an 11-8 win over Nanaimo Friday, the Adanacs will finish out of the playoffs for the second straight year.  That doesn’t mean the game has no meaning for either team.  For the Shamrocks, they will want to continue their momentum into the first round of the playoffs and win their fifth straight game.  For the Adanacs, they are a proud franchise and always like to defeat the Rocks.

Last weekend, it was Rhys Duch, Corey Small and Jesse King leading the way to a 14-6 victory over these Adanacs, amassing 19 points to sweep the three stars.  Although a few of the players who have not played as much, may see action in this game the Shamrocks will not be taking the Adanacs lightly.  It has been a hectic final couple of weeks so some rest heading into another section of the schedule where teams will typically play every second night might be a good thing.

Ryan Johnson and Reid Reinholdt continue to lead the Adanacs in scoring with 55 and 54 points respectively although they were pretty much held in check during the last meeting between the two teams.
