Shamrocks Victorious in Back and Forth Affair

The Victoria Shamrocks picked up a crucial 13-11 victory over the Maple Ridge Burrards on the road on Sunday night. With the win, the Shamrocks take the season series 2 games to 1 over the Burrards.

The Shamrocks led 7-3 after 20, and 9-6 after 40 minutes of play. The Burrards however,  exploded out of the gate in the 3rd period and eventually even took their first lead of the night at 11-10.  The Shamrocks regained their composure and more importantly, the lead before Steve Priolo salted the win away with an empty netter with 32 seconds left

Jesse King was big in the victory as he notched 3 goals and 3 assists for 6 points. Chris Boushy, Marshal King, Graeme Hossack each scored twice while Larson Sundown, Chris Wardle, Adrian Sorichetti, and Steve Priolo had singles. Pete Dubenski made 32 saves for the win in goal.

Curtis Dickson 3+3 and Dane Dobbie 3+2 were the main catalysts for the Burrards.  Christian Del Bianco started the contest in goal for Maple Ridge but was chased after the Shamrocks scored 7 times on 18 first period shots.  Frank Scigliano came on in relief and stopped 19 of 24 shots.

The Shamrocks win coupled with New Westminster's OT win over Nanaimo means that five teams are tied with 18 points in the WLA standings.  The Shamrocks started the day outside of playoff positioning and will finish the day in first place by virtue of their winning percentage.  With things as tight as they are, it is clear there is much jockeying to be done as the clubs head down the final stretch.

The Shamrocks will now return to the Q Centre on Friday night as they play host to the Coquitlam Adanacs at 7:00 pm.  The game is presented by Elements Casino.
