Shamrocks Seize Supremacy Over Timbermen

June 29, 2018

It was a thrilling game from The Q Centre last night as the Victoria Shamrocks took down the Nanaimo Timbermen 11-10 to win the season series against Nanaimo 2 to 1. The game was entertaining from the get-go for all 2,300 fans who came out to watch their Shamrocks take on their North Island Rival. Too say the least, it was a nerve-racking first period for the Shamrocks and their fans as they found themselves behind after the first period, down 3 goals to 2.

However, things were looking up after an explosive 5 goals in the second period gave the Shamrocks a slight 7-6 advantage as they went into the final 20 minutes. With 1:47 left in the 3rd period and the Shamrocks down by 1, pushing to get the tying goal, it was none other than Jesse King getting the late equalizer to send the game to overtime. With the extra serving of free lacrosse, Matt Yager scored the game-winning goal 2:34 into overtime with big assists from the dynamic defensive duo Brett Craig and Derek Lloyd. The final goal turned out to be a symbol of the Shamrocks’ strength as they play their best when the everybody gets involved.

With the win, the Shamrocks currently sit in 3rd place in the WLA with 12 points. They will try to increase that total when they take on the Coquitlam Adanacs at The Palace on Poirier in Coquitlam tonight. The next Shamrocks home game is on July 6th when the Shamrocks play host to the Langley Thunder.
