Shamrocks Roll to 3rd Straight Win

The Victoria Shamrocks used a big 2nd period on Friday night to pull away from Coquitlam and win their 3rd straight WLA contest, this one by a 14-6 final at the Q Centre.

Leading 4-2 after 20 minutes of play, the Shamrocks pulled away from Adanacs in the 2nd frame, outscoring Coquitlam 5-1 in the period and seizing control of the game. With the win, the Shamrocks pulled back to .500 on the season at 4-4.

Larson Sundown paced the Shamrocks attack with 3 goals and 5 assists while Cole Pickup (1+5), Marshal King 3+3), and Chris Boushy (3+3) each picked up 6 points in the victory.  Keegan Bell (2), Graeme Hossack and Nick Preston rounded out the scoring for the Shamrocks.

Cody Hagedorn turned aside 37 Coquitlam shots for the win in goal.

Dean Fairall led the way for the Adanacs with 2 goals and 3 assists.  With the loss, Coquitlam drops to 2-7 on the campaign.

The Shamrocks will now get some much-needed rest before returning to the Q Centre next Friday at 7:00 pm when they host the Langley Thunder.  That contest marks the end of a 4 game home-stand.  After Friday, the Shamrocks will hit the road for 5 straight and won't return to the Q Centre until July 19th.
