Shamrocks Roll Over Adanacs to Set Up Super Sunday Showdown
The Victoria Shamrocks defeated the Coquitlam Adanacs 14-2 in front of a capacity crowd on Friday night at the Q Centre. With the win, the Shamrocks improved to 10-5-0 on the season and moved back into a tie for first place with the Burnaby Lakers who come to town Sunday night.
The game was never in doubt as the Shamrocks controlled the contest right out of the gate when Chris Wardle opened the scoring 3:04 into the contest. The Shamrocks led 3-0 after 20 minutes and 7-0 after 40 minutes. Coquitlam finally ended Pete Dubenski's shutout bid 2:09 into the 3rd period. Dubenski finished the night with 28 saves on 30 shots to earn the win, his 5th in a Shamrocks jersey.
The offence on this night was led by a pair of 7 point efforts. Jesse King had 4 goals and 3 assists, while Connor Robinson had 3 goals and 4 assists in the game. Tyler Pace, Chris Wardle, and Chris Boushy each had a pair of goals, while Adrian Sorichetti had a single.
The complete effort sets up a "Super Sunday" showdown with the Burnaby Lakers. Burnaby is currently tied with the Shamrocks in points with 20, however, the Shamrocks have played one fewer game. The math is simple for the Shamrocks, a win secures themselves a playoff birth in the hyper-competitive standings, and perhaps, more importantly, it would secure yet another tie-breaker advantage over the Lakers.
Join the Shamrocks before Sunday's game beginning at 4:00 pm for the final tailgate party of the season. As a special thank you on "Fan Appreciation" day, all burgers at the tailgate party will be provided FREE of Charge compliments of the Shamrocks.
