Shamrocks Return Home with WLA Championship in Sight

The Victoria Shamrocks host the Maple Ridge Burrards in Game 5 of the WLA Championship Series tonight a 6:00 pm.  The Shamrocks lead the best of 7 series 3 games to 1 and would clinch the WLA Championship, and a berth in the Mann Cup with a win tonight.

Looking back, perhaps nobody should be surprised at the resiliency the Shamrocks have displayed in this championship series.  After all, this was a club that dug itself out of a massive hole in the regular season to eventually finish first overall.  The Shamrocks never-quit attitude has served them well in these league finals.  In game 3 they overcame four separate 4 goal deficits to win 17-14 and stun the Burrards.  Game 4 was much of the same as the Shamrocks rallied after starting the 3rd period down 8-5 to win in overtime on a Tyler Pace buzzer-beater.

Dane Dobbie continues to give the Shamrocks a tough time.  The veteran sniper has 12 goals in the series for the Burrards.  Dobbie leads all WLA players with 26 postseason goals.  Hot on his heels is Shamrocks star Jesse King who's amassed 19 playoff markers, including 9 in these WLA finals.

Fans are encouraged to get their tickets early today as the club is expecting a near-capacity crowd. Ticket sales were brisk all-day yesterday.  The Q Centre Box Office opens at Noon today, or you can purchase your tickets online.
