Shamrocks Look to Start a New Streak in Maple Ridge
After seeing their 7 game winning streak come to an end Wednesday night in Langley, the Victoria Shamrocks will head to Maple Ridge looking to start a new streak as they take on the Burrards at 6:00 pm.
With the race for playoff positioning fully underway, the Shamrocks oddly enter the night on the outside looking in when it comes to the WLA playoff picture. A win tonight, however, would move them back into a tie for first place. Odd indeed.
Just two points separate the Shamrocks and Burrards who are meeting for the 3rd and final time this season. Tonight's contest takes on added pressure as it will give the victor the tie-breaking nod should that come into play when the regular season wraps up. The Burrards defeated the Shamrocks back on June 9th by a 9-5 score. The Shamrocks returned the favour a week later with a 9-6 win of their own at the Q Centre. Chris Boushy led the attack that night with 3 goals and two assists. Tyler Pace will make his Shamrocks debut in the contest tonight as well. Pace was acquired at the WLA trade deadline with Connor Robinson.
The Burrards newly acquired Dane Dobbie will clearly be a focus for the Shamrocks vaunted defence. Since being traded from the Langley Thunder Dobbie certainly hasn't disappointed with 10 goals and 16 points in just 3 games. Mike Mallory leads the Burrards with 47 points, good for 6th overall in league scoring.
