Shamrocks Legend To Have His Jersey Retired on a night celebrating all alumni

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Shamrocks and Shamrocks alumni association will retire Fred “Whitey” Severson’s #8 jersey on Friday June 24, at the Shamrocks Alumni game presented by Jenner Chevrolet. Severson had a legendary career with the Shamrocks as player and head coach of the team, from 1951-1963.

Severson joined the Shamrocks in 1951, after short senior A stints in New Westminster and Brampton. Over the course of his lacrosse career, Severson scored 452 goals with 557 assists in 430 games. This made him the first player to reach 1000 points in Western senior lacrosse. He won two Mann Cups as a Shamrock, one as a player in 1955, and one as a player-coach in 1957.

Tickets for the 7:45 Alumni game on Friday can be purchased at the tickets tab above, by calling 250-478-ROCK (7625) or at the team store at #120, 967 Langford Parkw
