Shamrocks Knock Off Thunder for 4th Straight Win
Deadlocked at 4-4 mid-way through the contest, the Victoria Shamrocks pulled away late on Friday night and earned their 4th straight WLA win, this one 8-5 over the Langley Thunder on Friday evening at the Q Centre.
With the win, the Shamrocks improved to 5-4-0 on the season.
The Thunder proved to be a stubborn opponent on the night, giving the Shamrocks all they could handle until they could finally pulling away in the 3rd period. The Shamrocks outscored the Thunder 3-1 in the final frame.
Chris Boushy, Cole Pickup and Josh Fagan each scored a pair of goals in the win, while Keegan Bell and Steve Priolo scored singles. Cody Hagedorn turned aside 33 of 38 Thunder shots on the night. Larson Sundown continued his hot play as he picked up 5 assists on the night. Sundown leads all Shamrocks with 23 points in 6 games this season.
Dylan Kinnear led the Thunder attack with a pair of goals, while Steve Fryer stopped 45 of 53 shots fired by the Shamrocks. With the loss, the Thunder now fall to 2-9-0.
The Shamrocks will travel to New Westminster tomorrow to take on the Salmonbellies at 5:00 pm. New Westminster dropped a 14-13 decision to the first place Burnaby Lakers tonight. The Shamrocks and Salmonbellies will enter the game deadlocked at 5-4-0, good for 10 points and a share of 3rd place in the WLA standings.
