Shamrocks Head to Nanaimo Looking for Series Sweep

The old adage in sports is that the 4th win is always the toughest to get in a best of seven series.  The Victoria Shamrocks will head to Nanaimo tonight for their 1st chance to earn that 4th win beginning at 7:30 tonight at the Frank Crane Arena.

After an 11-8 win on Saturday night at the Q Centre, the Shamrocks have put themselves in the enviable position of being up 3 games to none.  Outside of game 1, the other's have been tight and Nanaimo certainly hasn't been making life easy for the Shamrocks.  Despite early advantages in both games 2 and 3, the Shamrocks never could quite pull away and Nanaimo did just enough to stay within striking distance.

With their season on the line, expect Nanaimo to mount their best effort tonight.

Victoria native and long-time Shamrocks star Jesse King led the attack on Saturday with 3 goals and 3 assists.  King currently leads all Shamrocks in playoff scoring with 9 goals and 14 points in 3 games.

Victoria has done a masterful job on special teams over the 3 games in this series. They lead the WLA playoffs with a 53.85% powerplay and sit 2nd on the PK at 63.64%.  The Shamrocks 4 for 5 effort on Saturday with the man advantage certainly helped that stat line.

Peter Dubenski is expected to get the start in goal tonight and he's been nothing short of spectacular over the 1st 3 games of the series. The Shamrocks goaltender leads the WLA playoffs in both goals-against average at 6.37 and save percentage at .869.

Should a game 5 be necessary, it would be held on Wednesday night at the Q Centre.
