Shamrocks Fall Flat Facing Thunder

Victoria, BC – It’s not for a lack of effort that the Shamrocks find themselves 0-2 to start off the 2019 WLA season. After coming up short against their rivals, the Nanaimo Timbermen, on Friday, the Shamrocks had high hopes as they entered Sunday’s meeting with the Langley Thunder. However, it wasn’t meant to be as the Thunder bolted past the Shamrocks by a score of 6-4.
Aaron Bold was named the starter for the Shamrocks but after he gave up 4 unanswered goals to Langley, he was replaced by beloved Victoria native Cody Hagedorn. Hagedorn only gave up 2 goals the rest of the way, both in the third period, and looked like one of the best Shamrocks on the floor Sunday. It’s unknown whether he will get the start on Friday when the Shamrocks host the Burnaby Lakers.
Tyson Gibson scored his first for the Shamrocks - who should be getting a few key pieces back this week. Both Jesse King and Steve Priolo were unavailable this weekend but look for them to have a major impact when they hit the floor Friday night. In the long and windy WLA season, the key is to never get too high or too low. A perfect balance is what coach Bob Heyes will preach to his team as they look to get their first win of the season Friday.
