Shamrocks Draft Five, Acquire One During 2025 WLA Draft
The Victoria Shamrocks drafted five and traded for one Tuesday night at the 2025 Western Lacrosse Association Graduating Junior Player Draft. Prior to the draft, the Shamrocks announced they would be protecting the playing rights of two graduating Junior A Shamrocks in Kaden Granberg and Noah Manning.
They then traded their first round draft pick, seventh overall, to the Coquitlam Adanacs in exchange for the playing rights of Wes Berg for the 2025 and 2026 seasons, and the teams will swap picks in 2027 if the Adanacs have the earlier pick in the first round.
In the second and third rounds, the team picked up Austin Lamoureux from the Port Coquitlam Junior A Saints, Brendan Jamieson from the Nanaimo Jr A Timbermen, and Connor Barrett from the Kamloops Junior B Venom.
The Shamrocks rounded out the draft by trading their fourth and fifth round picks to the Burnaby Lakers in exchange for their fourth and fifth round picks in 2027.
“I’m pleased to welcome these five young men to the Shamrocks organization and congratulate all the players drafted tonight by all the teams,” said General Manager Chris Welch. “It’s always an exciting opportunity to give guys who have worked very hard and been very dedicated to the sport an opportunity to continue playing lacrosse at the next level.”
“It’s going to be a highly competitive summer and we’ll have a target on our backs as defending champions; but we’re going to do everything we can to meet that challenge, and like every year we’ll be in it to win it.”
