Shamrocks Defeat Adanacs, Clinch Date with Timbermen

The Victoria Shamrocks took care of business Saturday evening in Coquitlam with a 9 –8 win over the Adanacs. With the win, Victoria clinched 1stoverall in the WLA standings and will face the Nanaimo Timbermen in the WLA Semi-Final series presented by Telus beginning Tuesday night at the Q Centre.

Scoring for the Shamrocks were Chris Boushy with 3, Connor Robinson with 2, while Tyler Burton Zac Christianson, Tyler Pace, and Josh Fagan had singles.

The Shamrocks overcame long odds to claim the top seed after starting the season with 3 straight losses, and they found themselves at just 1-4-0 through 5 games. That began a stretch that would see the Shamrocks win 7 in a row and ultimately turn their season around.

The Semi-Final matchup with the Timbermen is a rematch of last season in which the Shamrocks took the series in 5 games. The Shamrocks took the season series 2 games to 1, with the Timbermen winning at the Q Centre in the season opener, while the Shamrocks took both games at Frank Crane Arena. The Timbermen snuck into to the playoffs with an 8-8 in Burnaby on Friday night.

The scene will shift to Frank Crane Arena for game 2 on Thursday night.
