Shamrocks Bid for 8 Straight Falls Short in Loss to Thunder

Fast starts had been the trademark of the Shamrocks recent roll.  Unfortunately for Victoria tonight, they never really seemed to find their footing in an 11-8 loss to the Langley Thunder at the Langley Events Centre.

With the loss, the Shamrocks 7 game winning came to an end.

Langley jumped out to a 2-0 first-period lead before Jesse King would finally get the Shamrocks on the board just over 18 minutes into the game.

The 2nd period opened up a bit more with the Thunder outscoring the Shamrocks 5-4 in the middle frame to take a 7-5 lead to the locker room after 40 minutes.

Langley looked like they might run away with it halfway through the 3rd period as they pushed their lead up to 9-5, however, the Shamrocks displayed some late resilience and mounted a comeback attempt that ultimately fell short.

Graeme Hossack, Jesse King, and Larson Sundown each had a pair of goals for the Shamrocks, while Liam Patten and Steve Priolo had singles in the loss.  Cody Hagedorn started the game in goal and was ultimately lifted for Pete Dubenski after the 5th Thunder marker.  Hagedorn finished with 22 saves on 27 shots while Dubenski turned aside 16 of 21 shots.

Keegan Bell, the former Shamrock playing his first game against his old club notched a hat trick and added an assist in the Thunder's 4th win of the season. Bell's efforts were enough to be named the games 1st star. Steve Fryer was solid in the Thunder goal as he made 46 saves on the 54 Shamrocks attempts.

The Shamrocks will now look ahead to a big game on Sunday against the Maple Ridge Burrards.
