Shamrocks acquire Casey Jackson in trade with Nanaimo

Victoria – The Victoria Shamrocks are pleased to announce the acquisition of Casey Jackson from the Nanaimo Timbermen in exchange for a 2nd round draft pick in the 2018 draft that had been acquired from New Westminster last year as part of the Mitch Jones trade.

Jackson, a 26 year old Victoria native was drafted by the Burnaby Lakers where he played 4 seasons and had 158 points in 53 regular season games along with 26 points in 12 playoff games.  As a junior, Jackson spent 4 years with the Victoria Shamrocks and accumulated 157 points in 44 games.

Shamrocks General Manager Chris Welch is excited to welcome Jackson to the Shamrocks, “we are excited to acquire Casey and he will fill an immediate need in a critical position for us.  Anytime we can add a local player that has proven himself in the WLA is a positive step.”

Following his trade in 2016 from Burnaby to Nanaimo, Jackson did not play last season, but is excited to get back on the floor with the Shamrocks, “It’s been a long time coming and I’m excited to be wearing the Shamrocks green in front of my family and can’t wait to play in front of a full arena.  Every lacrosse players’ goal is to win a Mann Cup and now being back in Victoria, I will be fighting from the first drop of the ball in May with the rest of my teammates to get Victoria their 10th.”

Stay tuned for the 2017 Western Lacrosse Association schedule which is expected to be released in the coming weeks.
