Shamrocks Acquire Ben Preston
The Victoria Shamrocks have completed a trade with the Coquitlam Adanacs, sending the playing rights of Matthew Dinsdale to the Adanacs for a second-round draft pick in 2021 and recent Junior Shamrocks graduate and Victoria native Ben Preston.
Dinsdale, who was drafted by his hometown Adanacs in 2017, traded to Maple Ridge, and then acquired in a three-way trade at the deadline between the Shamrocks, the Langley Thunder, and the Maple Ridge Burrards. He did not dress for the Shamrocks in 2019, appearing only in four games for the Burrards last season.
Ben Preston was an everyday player with the Junior Shamrocks in 2019 before being drafted in the third round of the 2020 Graduating Junior Draft a week ago. He led the team in scoring with 40 goals and notched 81 points in 21 games during the regular season and added 23 points and 13 points in the playoffs and Minto Cup respectively.
Preston is from Victoria and joins a number of recent Junior Shamrocks grads and Victoria-borm players on the senior club, including Cole Pickup, Brian Robb, and Brad McCulley.
The Victoria Shamrocks open their 71st season on May 22nd at home against the Burnaby Lakers.
