Rhys Duch Returns for his 12th Season in Green

Victoria, BC- The Victoria Shamrocks are excited to announce their first official signing of the 2022 season, veteran forward Rhys Duch, for his 12th season as a Shamrock.

A Victoria Native, Duch brings veteran leadership after helping lead the team to a Mann Cup Championship in 2015. Duch is a pure offensive threat and has totalled 883 points in his career with the Shamrocks.

We are thrilled to have Duch back in Green,” said Head Coach Mike Simpson. “His skill on the floor and  leadership off it will be an integral part of the growth of our young group moving forward. Having Rhys return immediately makes our offense a more dangerous group."

Duch has been a member of the WLA 1st All-Star team three times, won the Three Stars Award three times, and was the league MVP in 2016. The Shamrocks cannot wait to have #10 back at the Q! Centre.

“The Shamrocks have been a part of my life for a long time, and I can’t wait to get out on the floor in front of the fans again,” said Duch. “I’m mostly excited to share the game with my family on and off the floor now that my kids are old enough to appreciate it. Needless to say it was a short conversation when they approached me this year.”

Duch has not only succeeded in the WLA, but also has had an extensive NLL career. Duch won Rookie of the Year in his debut season. After nine seasons with the Stealth organization, Duch headed to Calgary where he led the Roughnecks to an NLL Cup in 2019. Post Covid hiatus, Duch played an abbreviated 2021/22 season with the Halifax Thunderbirds.
