Priolo Returns to the Victoria Shamrocks

Victoria, BC – The Victoria Shamrocks are pleased to announce that Steve Priolo is returning to the team on a two-year deal that covers the 2018 and 2019 Western Lacrosse Association seasons.

The big, rugged defender brings leadership, a wealth of experience and an intimidating presence to the Shamrocks back line. The 29-year-old will help fellow veterans Matt Yager, Greg Harnett and Ben McCullough anchor a very young and very mobile Victoria defensive corps.

2018 will be Priolo’s third season in Victoria. He helped lead the Shamrocks to a Mann Cup championship in 2015 and was named to the WLA’s second all star team in 2017.

“We’re working around some important obligations that Steve has this year,” said Shamrocks general manager Chris Welch. “Most significantly, he’s getting married. At first he didn’t want to be a ‘part-time’ player, he’s more of an all or nothing type of guy, but fortunately we were able to get the two-year deal done which seemed to make it a little easier for him. We’re just extremely happy to have him back in the green and white, he makes us a lot better.”

“I play for the Shamrocks not only for the Island lifestyle, but for the feeling of family that the Shamrocks give me,” said Priolo when asked to comment on his return to Victoria.
