Jesse King’s Four Goals Help Lead Rocks to their First Win of the Season
Victoria, BC– The Victoria Shamrocks took down the New Westminster Salmonbellies in their home opener on Friday evening to a sell-out crowd 14-10.
Jesse King helped lead the team to the win with four goals and four assists. Four other members of the Shamrocks had multiple-goal games with Larson Sundown (3), Liam Phillips (2), and Cole Pickup (3) adding big goals to the night.
The Shamrocks kept it tight throughout the first period, but with Pickup’s natural hat trick the Rocks kept the lead 8-5 going into the second period.
It was all Shamrocks in the second period, as they scored the only three goals. The Rocks defensive unit held the Salmonbellies to only nine shots, leaving them scoreless.
The Salmonbellies outscored the Rocks in the third period 5-3, scoring four in a row early in the third. The Rocks went on a three-goal run with goals from Sundown, Phillips and Foster to maintain their lead.
The Rocks outshot the Salmonbellies 58-40, ultimately leading to a 14-10 win. The Rocks are back in action next Friday at the Q! Centre at 7:00pm as they take on the Burnaby Lakers. Tickets can be purchased online or in store on Tuesday’s or Friday’s from 12-5pm.
