Victoria – Back to their winning ways, the Victoria Shamrocks ride into Friday’s game with a week off under their belts after playing twice in three days last week. The Shamrocks played with passion last Friday in front of an enthusiastic home crowd, more than doubling up the Thunder, riding an eight-goal second period to an 11-5 win. The eight-goal stanza was the most times that the Shamrocks have tickled the twine in a period this season.
New Shamrock Joe Resetarits is making his debut along with Rhys Duch and Aaron Bold back in the lineup. Resetarits, previously a member of the Brampton Excelsiors of Ontario’s Major Series Lacrosse for five seasons, totalled two hundred fifty-one points in ninety-five MSL games. He racked up another two hundred thirty-seven playing with the Rochester Knighthawks of the NLL.
The ‘Rocks and Adanacs have met twice this year, with the home side taking each meeting. First, it was Victoria showing dominance, in their second-highest scoring game of the year, as they took down Coquitlam 14-6. Just over a week later, the teams met again, this time on the mainland as Coquitlam triumphed in a 7-6 game.
Through thirteen games, Victoria has scored the most goals (132), given up the least (101), have the most home wins (5), and the league’s top power-play at 42%. Corey Small holds the league scoring lead with sixty-eight points and needs just under four points per game the rest of the way to break his career high of eighty-six, set back in 2013. To this point, he is clicking at five point three points per game. Casey Jackson second in the WLA in goals with twenty-five, trailing Small’s twenty-nine, and third in points with forty-four.
ALSO: As Friday is our annual SALUTE TO LOCAL HEROES night presented by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch, we are offering toonie admission to all members of our local services current and retired (police, fire, ambulance, and military). There will be performances by the Naden Band of the Royal Canadian Navy and the Legion colour party.
Coquitlam Adanacs Scouting Report
The Adanacs are led by Dean Fairall, who’s twenty goals account for just under twenty-five percent of all of Coquitlam’s tallies. Fairall has eleven helpers to go along with the twenty goals for a team-high thirty-one points. The Adanacs bolster one of the league’s best penalty kills at sixty-seven percent which will go head to head with Victoria’s top rated power-play. They score seven and a half goals per game, which is sixth, and give up just under ten, also sixth. Dan Lewis has played the bulk of the minutes in goal, he sports a 2-6 record with a 9.48 goals against average and a .807 save percentage.
