Victoria Shamrocks 2017 schedule released with 9 Friday night home games

Victoria – The Western Lacrosse Association released its 2017 schedule and Friday nights will again be rocking across Vancouver Island as the Victoria Shamrocks’ 68th season begins at home on Friday May 19 vs. the Langley Thunder at 7:30. 

The Q Centre proved to be a tough place for opponents last season as the home town guys won 7 of 9 regular season games in front of the always loud Shamrocks Nation. 

The Shamrocks are excited to announce a move to a family-friendly game start of 7:30 for regular season home games. “We’ve been wanting to change to an earlier start time for a few years now,” said team Governor Jim Hartshorne. “Other teams have resisted the change up until now; the WLA is trying a number of things over the next few seasons to improve the fan experience, and this is one small change we were able to make this year.”

Shamrocks host Burnaby, Coquitlam and Langley twice, while New Westminster, Nanaimo and Maple Ridge come to Victoria once in the regular season.

The 2017 Mann Cup is back in BC for 2017 with the Shamrocks recently hosting the week long event in 2013 and 2015, winning a 9th Championship in 2015.
