7th Straight Victory Moves Shamrocks into 1st Place

The Victoria Shamrocks walked into the Bill Copeland Arena feeling pretty good. They'll leave feeling even better as they defeated the Burnaby Lakers by a score of 13-6 for their 7th straight win, and more importantly, they've moved into 1st place for the time being in the WLA standings.

Much like a night ago the Shamrocks got off to a fast start and jumped out to a 3-0 lead just over 8 minutes into the game.  The Lakers would make it a 5-3 game late into the first, but ultimately that was the closest Burnaby would threaten all night long.  The Shamrocks outscored the Lakers 6-2 in the 2nd period and really seized control of the contest.

It was a massive night offensively for the Shamrocks. Chris Boushy scored 4 times and now has 23 on the season while Marshal King and brother Jesse also had big nights as they combined for 4 goals and 11 assists.  Marshal had 3 goals and 4 assists, while Jesse had 1+7.  New addition Connor Robinson had his first two goals as a Shamrock, while Graeme Hossack, Larson Sundown, and  Liam Patten added singles. For Patten, it was also his first career WLA and Shamrocks goal.

Cody Hagedorn was back between the pipes for the Shamrocks and pick up right where Pete Dubenski left off a night ago in Nanaimo.  Hagedorn turned aside 44 of 50 Lakers shots and picked up the 2nd star of the game.

The Shamrocks power play which has struggled for much of the campaign came to life in a big way for the Shamrocks tonight against the Lakers.  The power play attack managed 4 goals on 3 opportunities as they converted twice on a 5-minute penalty to Tom Robertson in the 2nd period.

The Shamrocks are next in action Wednesday night as they head to Langley to take on the Thunder at the Langley Events Centre.
