Victoria, BC – The Victoria Shamrocks had previously announced the signings of 2015 WLA First Team All Stars Corey Small and Jesse King as well as defensive stalwart Tyler Burton and today the Shamrocks are very pleased to announce the return of five more core players from the 2015 championship team: Matt Yager, Chris Wardle, Ethan Garland, and goalies Cody Hagedorn and Matt Roik.  All are Victoria natives except Roik who now calls Victoria home year round. The 2016 season kicks off on May 20 vs the island rival Nanaimo Timbermen and the raising of the Championship banner ceremony. Guarantee your seat by becoming a season ticket holder and clicking tickets to the right.

 Matt Yager, is a seven-year veteran on the Shamrocks back end. Yager has played in an impressive 93 regular season games and 53 playoff games over the course of his WLA career.
Chris Wardle was drafted 11th overall by the Shamrocks in 2014. In two seasons with the team, he has put up 14 goals and 18 assists in 25 regular season games. Listed at 6’0, 175 lbs., Wardle is a clever offensive player with a nose for the net.
Ethan Garland, is returning for his third season with the Shamrocks. An eighth round pick in 2014, Garland has had a successful start to his career as a WLA defenseman. Garland recorded 12 points in 28 regular season games between 2014 and 2015.
Cody Hagedorn, appeared in 10 games with the Shamrocks last year, and finished the season with a 6-2 record and a .795 save percentage. He is returning for his third WLA season.
Matt Roik, played in seven games during 2015, and finished the season 4-0, with a .786 save percentage. Roik won a Minto Cup in 2000 with Burnaby and has won two Mann Cups as a Shamrock (03 and 15) and is heading into his tenth WLA season.
